Captain Dan Lappala has logged extensive sea miles, sailing miles with experience dating back since the age of 12 years old.
Dan holds a 100-ton USCG Master’s Near Coastal power /with Sailing Endorsement.
Sailing Background:
* Dan first learned to sail in Florida at the age of 12.
* He sailed and raced small skiffs on a 30’ Catamaran after school and on weekends crewed whenever the opportunity arose.
* Sailed and surfed the US Virgin Islands
* Moved to Kauai, Hawaii from the Virgin Islands in 1970 and continued surfing, sailing and fishing.
* At age 24 he delivered a 38” sloop from Hilo Bay Harbor to Deep Cove, Vancouver, B.C.
* Sailed the coast from Victoria, B.C. to Newport Beach, California.
* Sailed from Honolulu to San Francisco in a 42-ft New Zealand racing yacht.
* Sailed all around the Gulf Islands, B.C., San Juan Islands Juan de Fuca Passage, Puget Sound, BC Canada, Sailed Hawaii South Point on the Big Island to Kauai all harbors night and day to present.
* Earned USCG. 25-ton offshore license master with sail in 1992 age 30
* From 1992 to present, Captain Dan has logged many miles around Hawaii chartering, managing and delivering private sailing and power yachts up to 60 ft.

* Sailing: yachts, small skiffs, catamarans
* Boat refurbishing salvage and diesel engine repair of sunken vessels, private yacht delivering, electrical marine wiring, fault-finding system installing marine systems engines, maintaining and sewing sails and canvass.
* Hawaiian fauna & flora identification
* Hawaiian fish and coral reef life identification and seaweeds
* Ocean sports: scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, finding new dive spots and new anchorages, old ship wreck history, and Hawaiian tales of old.
